NCD Process and Checklist

The NCD process is designed to help a congregation address its Minimum Factor.There are five steps to the cycle of the NCD process:

 

Step 1: Prepare

  • NCD principles shared, understood and process with key leaders.
  • Ownership gained within the church.
  • Coach relationship established and defined.
  • Initial Church Health Team members recruited and orientated; team work begun
  • Intercessors for focused prayer mobilized.

Step 2: Diagnose

·Survey participants selected and introduced to NCD concepts.

·Complete NCD survey and receive Survey results.

·Discuss the next steps with the NCD Coach.

·Process initial reactions and responses (emotional tollbooth).

·Expand Church Health Team in light of minimum factor.

·Develop a general process with timeline for each step of the NCD process: Diagnose, Plan, Implement, Evaluate.

·Conduct focus groups to discern key issues contributing to the minimum factor.

·Do additional reading and study on the minimum factor.

·Communicate progress and prayer needs.

·Present the survey results to the congregation (optional).

 

Step 3: Plan

·Conduct Action Planning Workshop for the Church Health Team to clarify 3 to 5 key issues and set SMART goals using life-giving strategies.

·Life-giving principles kept in focus.

·Timelines and budget strategies determine for each goal.

·Form workgroups to spearhead each initiative.

·Ensure ownership of the plan by the consistory, Church Health Team and ministry leaders.

·Schedule times for evaluation, celebration and mid-course corrections.

·Communicate progress and prayer needs to church.

 

Step 4: Implement

·Plan official launch.

·Systematic review of process and mid-course corrections made.

·Life-giving principles kept in focus.

·Change and momentum dynamics monitored and addressed.

·Obstacles that are hindering the process identified and removed.

·Tools and resources identified and provided.

·Celebrate wins along the way.

 

Step 5: Evaluate

·Process evaluated.

·Process celebrated—enjoy the gains.

·Identify key learnings and insights.

·Plan adjusted—Identify new projects, apply course corrections, address goals not achieved.

·Relationship evaluated—bring closure or review.

·Determine date for next NCD survey.

·Begin to consider the concept of church multiplication.
